My name is Olivia Preston. I am human, so yes, I have made mistakes. A lot of them. Some I even regret. Most, I will not apologize for. How can I when they are already part of who I am?
I will give you one truth, and I will ask for one favor in return

I tricked myself into falling in love with my sister's fiance.
While you judge me, wear my heart in your chest.

Are you ready?

Well how to write a review without carelessly giv in th away the Story? Boy this is tough.
Okay what I thought about this story was that it was maudlin. The characters all seem to think that suffering is going out of style and trust me it is not.

Olivia is this person who can't see her own success, and discards it unnecessarily, all the time. It is almost like she doesn't deserve it, so she tosses it making her even more undeserving. She has this misplaced duty to her family that should make her a tragic heroine, but really just a pitiful something fool. In book one she seems in control of herself but clearly that is all a lie. Faced with two problems, she could have solved at least one with communication but she didn't. I don't know if it is because of shame or fear or if author D wrote her like a drug addict on purpose she we will never truly know. All these people pulled for her to do the best thing for herself but she chose differently. I found it frustrating.

Mason is a mess, much like Liam was a mess in book one and I found little desire to defend him even though he is sort of innocent in this. By painting him as a passive player in this drama he is voiceless and not even really important. I do have questions. How much money does he really have? Odette, the sister, seems to think that he is some kind of millionaire, but he is Psych Doctor. Even the richest ones aren't rich just by employment alone. Maybe I missed the part where he came from old money. Why does he take the actions he does? What purpose do they serve?

Non of these questions get answered because he is an interest and not really a person here. Neither is the other three prominent males in this story. They exist, they do things and it is really on the women in this story to breath life into them but they don't.

I give this story four stars only because I had plenty of reactions to it, mostly anger and confusion. Even before the super rushed ending i felt like this story was going to be over abruptly. It was and I hope to see this continued in the next book as background fodder.

Once Upon a Goodnight Kiss Lover Book 2 eBook DN Hoxa Reviews

Having read book one of this series (Once Upon a One Night Stand), I was eager to read the next in the series, and what a ride this story has taken me on! When I embarked on reading this book - the second in the LOVER series - I think I expected a romance novel but this story is so much more. There are aspects to it that, in my opinion, veer it closer into the suspense genre, and it had me excited, over and over, to get on and read the next chapter. The continuing story of five friends is written about in blatant realism with no sugar coating. The way they speak to each other and the way they are completely honest with each other, even when one of them does something the others does not approve of, contributes to the raw realism of the story. Although a continuance from the first story, I do believe this story could be read as a standalone novel as well, and it would still be enjoyable. A great book that I think could easily be described as a suspense romance.
Olivia Preston is the successful owner of an interior design company and the daughter of a wealthy businessman. She’s recently gotten out of a sticky situation with a married man, but when she meets her sister’s fiancé, she finds herself falling into an even stickier one. The attraction is mutual and her sister is the sibling-from-hell, but they are still sisters. Olivia’s four best friends do what they can to help her make the right choice, but can she ignore what her heart and body desire, and do the right thing? Then again, what is the right thing?

This is the second book in the LOVER series (so named for the first initials of five women who have been BFF’s since college). I liked the first book, but loved this one. It starts a little slowly, but heats up so quickly, I found myself hating to put the book down. Olivia was in such a no-win situation that I could not begin to guess what she would do. All I can say is, it’s not your typical romance, but it is a really good story.

I was lucky enough to get an early copy of this book free in exchange for an honest review.
I read this book on my Unlimited account. I cannot feel that this book is finished as it is. I get that Olivia did what she considered best for her sister, even though her sister treated her like crap all her life. I feel there has to be more to Olivia's story. Mason loves her and she loves Mason even if it is the forbidden love kind. I'm sure you can tell that I didn't like this ending, cos I didn't get my happy ever after, this ended on a sad note for Olivia and I guess that is why it feels unfinished to me. To spend time reading a book and have it end like this seems like time wasted to me. I loved the first book of the Lover Series, so I had high hopes for this book too.I know the author never promised a happy ending, and this one wasn't it was full of angst and drama, and I hope we find out the rest of the story in the next book. The group of women in this series are so tight with each other in their friendship they tell it like it is with each other and call each other out on their stuff cos they know each other really well. I really like this aspect of the book and I hope that eventually they all get a happy ever after, and learn about love and being loved. Olivia's sister Odette was just interested in Mason's money, being taken care of, and the status of being married. She even proposed to Mason, and yes he is a grown man and he could have said no, I get it! I really wanted to love this book, the writing and the story is good, and maybe lots of readers will love the ending, I guess for me it is just a matter of personal taste. I read and reviewed this book as a member of the Mommy's Naughty Playground Review Team.
